Horticultural Services - Regularly scheduled services by our horticulturists, we call “Champion,” are generally performed monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly. The service includes selective and corrective pruning, plant fertilization, weed and pest control, irrigation management and debris removal. Equally important to the comprehensive plant health of the landscape is the communication between the client and the Champion. Clients are notified prior to each service in order to allow for requests and special needs. At the conclusion of the service, the client is given a report stating the tasks performed on each plant as well as items to expect in the future.

Landscape Evaluations with Initial Clean-ups - Initial landscape clean-ups are often needed for landscapes that lacked care or those that have been improperly managed. The clean-up may include removal of dead and unsafe plants; lifting plants and trees to a specific height; crown reduction; espaliering; removal of diseased and/or dead wood; fertilization; herbicide and pesticide application; and hand weeding. All debris is then removed and disposed of at the city dumpsites. After the clean-up, the landscape is renewed and viable for ongoing landscape management.

Remedial Landscape Improvements - Owners of homes may want to “freshen-up” an old and tired landscape. CHAMP can improve the existing landscape through tasks as described for clean-ups and additional landscaping to add color and textural contrasts; hide unwanted views or frame positive views; add garden art, water features and outdoor furnishings; repair or install outdoor lighting and irrigation systems; or accent with container gardens.

Container Gardens - By their nature Patio Home landscapes are small, and as such, are difficult to use a great variety of plants. Containers, if properly drained and watered, can be an effective accent within the landscape. Containers gardens can be designed as focal points or in groupings with varying motifs, colors, and textures. Various themes can be developed for containers such as cactus gardens, pots filled with water plants, and garden containers using perennial plants or seasonal flowers (or both) and pots filled using vegetables and herbs.

Landscape Coaching - For those who have landscapes too large for one person to manage, CHAMP provides a coaching service whereby consultation is given to both the homeowner and the landscape maintenance contractor. Creative design, professional installation and proper management are offered on a regular basis. A prioritized “punch-list” of action items with is prepared after each meeting and sent to the owner and contractor for implementation. At the following meeting the notes are reviewed and updated and new items are added. CHAMP’s consultants are always available by phone to answer questions between visits.

Patio furniture, Barbeque and Deck Cleaning - When decks and patio furniture get weather worn, CHAMP can power wash using biodegradable soaps to regenerate these items.
